String manipulation functions allow you to concatenate strings, extract substrings, replace characters, trim whitespace, convert characters, and more. Some commonly used string manipulation functions in PHP include strlen() to get the length of a string, str_replace() to replace occurrences of a substring, substr() to extract a part of a string, and strtolower() to convert a string to lowercase.

String searching functions help you find the position of a substring within a string, check if a string contains a substring, and extract specific characters from a string. Functions like strpos() find the position of the first occurrence of a substring, strrpos() find the position of the last occurrence of a substring, and substr_count() count the number of occurrences of a substring within a string.

String case functions allow you to convert the case of characters in a string. PHP provides functions like strtoupper() to convert a string to uppercase, strtolower() to convert a string to lowercase, and ucfirst() to convert the first character of a string to uppercase.

String formatting functions help you format strings by adding padding, aligning text, and inserting variables. Functions like sprintf() allow you to format a string using placeholders and variables, str_repeat() repeat a string a specified number of times, and str_pad() add padding to a string.

String comparison functions allow you to compare strings and determine their order. Functions like strcmp() compare two strings and return 0 if they are equal, strcasecmp() compare two strings case-insensitively, and strstr() checks if a string contains another string.

These are just a few examples of the many inbuilt string functions available in PHP. They provide a convenient and efficient way to manipulate and perform operations on strings, making PHP a powerful language for handling text-based data.
